Join us this summer for an enriching Yoga, Meditation, & Tea Retreat set against the backdrop of the Mendocino Coast, where the rugged Pacific Ocean meets the redwoods.
The serene environment of The Inn at Newport Ranch serves as the perfect setting for mindfulness practices as we immerse ourselves in the experiences of yoga, meditation, and tea ceremony during our tranquil 3-night retreat from July 28 to 31.
The concept of "Soma" has rich meanings; in Greek, it represents 'the body living in its wholeness,' while in various ancient traditions, it symbolizes a sacred drink that nourishes the spirit. In our Yoga + Tea retreat, we will explore our inner landscapes, building a sense of wholeness within this beautiful natural environment through meditation, somatic movement, and yoga.
Under the guidance of Leia Layus, we will engage in meditation and movement practices, supported by Eastern philosophy, designed to harmonize our receptivity and stability as we savor the peak of summer. To ease our way into the day, she will begin each morning with meditation and a late morning yoga session to gently awaken and energize our bodies. We will dedicate our evenings to somatic practices (SATYA yoga & restorative yoga), which provide a grounding experience that enhances our mind-body connection and promotes relaxation.
Morgann Francesca will offer a tea ceremony each day. The offering of 'bowl tea' is the essence of simplicity and meditation. Through this mindful practice, we will share tea in silence, allowing us to cultivate inner harmony and presence. At the end of each session, there will be opportunities for dialogue, reflection, and questions, creating a supportive community environment.
Located within the beautiful expanse of the Inn at Newport Ranch, this retreat provides an experience that highlights the healing qualities of nature. Spread over 2,200 private acres on the Mendocino Coast, guests can explore the natural beauty of the surrounding landscapes, from ancient redwood groves to a mile and a half of rugged ocean bluffs and pristine coastline. Experience the splendor of this land while indulging in the luxurious comfort of bespoke architecture and optional spa amenities, savoring exquisite cuisine that highlighting seasonal dishes celebrating wild ingredients, coastal flavors, and the land’s natural abundance.
This retreat will immerse you in tranquility, allowing your mind to quiet as you let go of the stresses of everyday life. Each day features opportunities for relaxation, including yoga sessions and invigorating nature hikes. Heart-opening activities like guided meditations and tea ceremonies will deepen your connection to yourself and nature. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, you will awaken your spirit and discover lasting gratitude and wonder for the world.

TEACHERS
LEIA LAYUS
As a yoga teacher and integral therapist, Leia finds inspiration in the connection between psychology, Eastern philosophy, somatic movement, yoga, mindfulness, creativity, and spirituality. Her classes blend Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative yoga, and somatic movement of SATYA Yoga. These modalities provide foundation, grace, and ease. She accompanies her classes with her love of philosophy, poetry, and wisdom of East-West psychology.
Leia's journey has led her to study Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga with various San Francisco training programs, mentorship with Stacie Overby, and studies of the Yoga Sutra with The Yoga Well Institute. Her primary studies with Tias Little, of Prajna Yoga in New Mexico, have allowed her to weave together ancient wisdom with modern science to support the subtle body. Additionally, Leia is a graduate of the Integral Counseling Psychology program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, emphasizing an integrative approach toward mental health and overall well-being.
Leia has a passion for philosophy and embodiment practices. She is deepening her understanding of Buddhism and Taoism as a student of Cha Dao, which translates to "the way of tea." This Chinese tea ceremony represents a philosophical approach that emphasizes purity, harmony, and reverence. It is a contemplative ritual that creates a rich sensory experience, encouraging participants to fully engage in the present moment. Leia is a student of WuDe from Global Tea Hut and helps support the Marin Tea Hut in Northern California.
MORGANN FRANCESCA
Morgann Francesca has been a meditation practitioner for over 10 years with a dedicated focus on both the Vipassana and Zen traditions. Her practice led her to The Way of Tea (Cha Dao), where she began to share tea ceremonially by offering the Leaf as medicine and a means of deep connection. Initiated into a lineage, she has taken vows to commit to the practice and a life of service. She has recently returned from living in Taiwan with her teacher, Wu De, at The Tea Sage Hut, a tea and zen center in Miaoli, Taiwan.
Cha Dao, or The Way of Tea, offers us the space to remember our connection to nature. We are reminded that a life with tea supports us in knowing and growing an inner well of wisdom that creates space and allowance to share the merits of cultivated peace with others, reflecting the natural spirit of tea itself.
What honor and humility it always brings to simply share leaves and water to remind us of the harmony of Being while experiencing the medicinal mastery of intimacy with Nature, and each other.
What a privilege it is to share the infinite gifts of this practice.
